How-To-Garden Tour

via Wood Streets Green Team

The Wood Streets Green Team is holding its 4th Annual

“How-To-Garden” Tour on April 21st from 11 to 4 p.m.

The tour will feature the new Riverside City College Community Garden, as well as three private gardens within the Wood Streets neighborhood that demonstrate sustainable gardening techniques. There will also be an Eco-Fair at RCC from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., where local organizations committed to sustainability will be present.

Workshops will be led throughout the day showcasing edible landscaping, succulent gardening, drip irrigation, water-efficient landscaping, fruit preserving, and artistic garden design. A local expert will be on hand at each garden to answer visitors’ questions.

If you are interested in biking the tour, please join Mayor Bailey at 1:00 p.m. at RCC. They will depart from there and bike parking will be available at each site on the tour.

suggested donation of $5 will help fund community garden efforts. There are no pre-sale tickets. Tickets can be purchased at any of the tour sites on the day of the tour. Green Team Buttons will be given to anyone who bikes, walks, or carpools to the event.

More information can be found at the website www.woodstreetsgreenteam.org or by calling 951-505-0172. A map of the tour locations will be posted soon!

Volunteer Info

We are in need of docents who will distribute maps to participants, as well as collect the $5 suggested donation from visitors as they arrive (which will not apply to you as a wonderful volunteer).  You need not be an expert on sustainable gardening to volunteer, but rather a supporter of good things happening in your community.

The event is on Sunday, April 21 from 11 – 4.  There are two shifts to volunteer: 10:45 – 1:30 p.m. OR 1:15 – 4:00.

If you are interested in participating, please email, Jessie (jessie.fuller@gmail.com), with your name and which shift(s) you can volunteer.
